Build something
that matters.
We are a small, focused team working on a problem with real impact on the public. If you want your work to have a direct influence on how dentists diagnose and document - and you are comfortable with the responsibility that comes with that - we would like to hear from you.
Every line of code and every model you ship has the potential to affect real clinical decisions in real treatment rooms. The feedback loop from your work to patient outcomes is measured in weeks, not years.
We're under 10 people. There are no org-chart layers between your ideas and the product. You'll work directly with the founders, the CMO, and the medical advisory network.
You get the context, access, and trust to pick the problems worth solving, make the case for them, and carry them all the way to the clinic. Good ideas win here regardless of who they come from - and when your work ships, everyone knows it was yours.
We want to build a tight core team of committed colleagues, as such we offer equity in addition to a competitive salary. If you are in this for the long term, we are here for you.
All roles are permanent, full-time positions. We review applications on a rolling basis - there is no closing date.
Senior Backend / Platform Engineer
Own the business logic and infrastructure that moves dental radiographs from capture to AI analysis and back into the clinical record - reliably, securely, and at scale. You will be the primary architect of the platform, logic, information and API layers that every other part of our business depends on, including integrations with partners.
- Design and operate the APIs that journal systems and radiology systems across the world use to consume Dentail AI.
- Design systems with business intelligence and business development in mind. What data is pivotal for us to iterate and build the best product and commercial offering possible?
- Build and operate the cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud) that runs our services to ensure high availability, scalability and smooth engineering operations.
- Drive reliability and observability across the platform - SLAs, dashboards, alerting, incident response, and post-mortem culture.
- Build with security in mind - we handle sensitive health data and are working toward ISO certifications, so secure-by-design thinking, access control, and audit-friendly practices are part of the job.
- Work directly with ML engineers on how our inference servers connect to customer-facing APIs, turning model output into structured clinical data.
- MSc in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience, including at least 2 years owning cloud infrastructure or a platform - someone who takes initiative and drives things forward, not just executes assigned tasks.
- Security-aware mindset - you treat data protection and least-privilege access as defaults, not afterthoughts.
- Clear written communicator; our team is often async and documentation matters.
- Open to working with AI agents for programming and beyond.
- Bonus: prior experience with Python, Go, or the Google Cloud ecosystem.
- Bonus: a track record of building and operating systems in regulated environments - financial services, healthcare, or similar.
Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Work at the core of what makes Dentail AI clinically credible - the detection models that identify pathologies and other findings in dental radiographs with accuracy that meets or exceeds specialist performance. You'll own the full ML lifecycle from research and training through to production inference and continuous evaluation. Dentail's AI engines are an ensemble of several ML models interacting through interconnected logical layers, so this role rewards both depth in modeling and systems thinking.
- Design custom model architectures for dental imaging - combining and extending convolutional, transformer-based, and multi-task approaches for detection of caries, periapical pathology, bone loss, and other findings across intraoral and panoramic radiographs.
- Maintain and improve our training and evaluation infrastructure - data pipelines, annotation tooling, experiment tracking, and model versioning.
- Collaborate with Dr. Alexander Johansson (CMO) and our medical advisory network to design clinically meaningful evaluation benchmarks and translate peer-reviewed findings into concrete model improvements.
- Drive rigorous model evaluation - precision, recall, calibration, and per-pathology sensitivity/specificity trade-offs on real clinical data.
- Optimize model inference for production: latency, throughput, quantization, and hardware-efficient deployment.
- Contribute to research direction: what to build next, which problems are tractable, and how to measure success.
- MSc in a relevant field (computer vision, deep learning, or similar); PhD welcome.
- 4+ years of machine learning experience focused on computer vision, with at least 2 years shipping models in production.
- Deep proficiency with PyTorch; experience with object detection frameworks (YOLO, DETR, or similar) and inference optimization (ONNX, TensorRT, quantization) a plus.
- Track record of designing or significantly modifying model architectures for specific problems - not just fine-tuning off-the-shelf models.
- Strong understanding of evaluation methodology - not just benchmark metrics, but sensitivity/specificity trade-offs in high-stakes classification.
- Familiarity with medical imaging (DICOM, radiograph modalities) is an advantage.
Head of Legal & Regulatory
Lead the legal and regulatory strategy that allows Dentail to operate as a certified medical device across multiple jurisdictions. You will own both the day-to-day legal function of the company and the long-term pathway to a leading certification portfolio - reporting directly to the CEO.
- Own and continuously improve our EU MDR and FDA compliance programme, working alongside management and external notified bodies.
- Lead commercial legal matters: SaaS and data processing agreements with clinic groups, partner integration contracts, and clinical research collaboration agreements.
- Build and maintain the company's GDPR and data governance framework in close coordination with engineering and the CMO.
- Advise the executive team on regulatory risk as we expand into new geographies.
- Qualified lawyer (EU or UK jurisdiction) with 7+ years of post-qualification experience. A significant portion of which in medical device or digital health regulation is a clear advantage.
- Hands-on experience with EU MDR - you have navigated a Class IIa or Class IIb device through the conformity assessment process.
- Working knowledge of the FDA medical device regulatory framework; direct submission experience is a strong plus.
- Pragmatic legal judgment: you understand that a 20-page contract is not always better than a 4-page one, and you know when to take risk and when to hold firm.
- Fluency in English required; Swedish is an advantage.
