Dentail AI was founded in 2020 by clinicians and engineers who lived the documentation burden first-hand. Our mission is to give every dental professional access to world-class AI diagnostics — without disrupting the workflows they already trust.
The idea for Dentail AI came from a straightforward observation: despite significant advances in imaging technology, missed pathologies and documentation burden remained stubbornly persistent problems in dental practice. Founder Dr. Alexander Johansson experienced this both first-hand as a practising dentist, and as practice owner - seeing vastly different quality in radiological analysis.
The founding team spent several years working directly with radiologists, general practitioners, and regulatory specialists. The result is a system that is well-adapted to any clinical workflow, flags potential findings, and suggests them to the medical professional. No extra clicks. No behavioural change. Just a second pair of eyes on every image - and a lot more time for clinicians to focus on what matters: patient care.

Alexander has practised as a dentist for 15+ years, and worked as an owner and clinic manager in clinics in Switzerland, Sweden and Denmark. He is the founder of TandCity AB, Digital teeth AG and has worked with acquisitions and restructuring of dental clinics — before founding Dentail AI in 2020. His firsthand experience with the documentation burden and diagnostic variability that costs clinicians time and patients outcomes is the reason the product exists.
Tobias brings an MSc in Theoretical Physics and an MSc in Finance, along with 20+ years building complex financial models and pioneering machine learning adoption across roles in Stockholm, Boston, London, and Johannesburg. He founded Dentail AI in 2020, where he designed the core detection architecture and oversees all engineering infrastructure.
Anton has a background in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Royal Institute of Technology and most recently a 13 year entrepreneurial journey, serving as founding CTO and later CEO at Abios, a B2B sports data business, which was eventually exited to a strategic buyer. He has a strong track record building and scaling technology organisations and products in regulated markets.
Caspar holds a degree in Accounting and brings several years of experience as a finance professional. His background spans software M&A advisory, capital raises, and an early role at a high-growth dental care startup, where he focused on strategy, KPIs & data analysis, and fundraising

Eva is a Specialist in Periodontology at the Eastman Institute in Stockholm, where she also serves as Program Director for the postgraduate residency program in periodontology. She holds a PhD from Karolinska Institutet, Department of Dental Medicine, where she is affiliated as an adjunct faculty member. Alongside her clinical practice, Eva is actively engaged in several research projects within the field of periodontology and oral medicine. She is involved in academic teaching and supervision at all levels of dental education, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and postdoctoral training.
Shivi has been a lecturer at the Department of Oral Radiology at Karolinska Institutet since 2019. He holds a Master’s degree in oral and maxillofacial radiology and AI, and has authored several peer-reviewed publications in the field. Shivi teaches at all academic levels, from undergraduate to postdoctoral education, covering topics from intraoral imaging to AI. He is currently a resident in oral and maxillofacial radiology, where he provides diagnostic reports on referrals from both general and specialist dental care alongside his academic and research activities.
Peter is a specialist in dental radiology at the Eastman Institute in Stockholm. As a radiology expert, he provides insightful and reliable support to general dentists as well as other specialists regarding complex radiological assessments. Peter has considerable experience in general dentistry within both the public and private sectors, which gives him a strong clinical foundation from which he conducts his research.
Arash’s philosophy is centered on working at the forefront of modern dentistry, integrating the latest technology with a strong focus on minimally invasive treatments and 3D computer-guided implant surgery to enable exceptional precision, predictability, and superior patient outcomes. Beyond clinical practice, Arash have been involved in restructuring and developing dental clinics, driving operational excellence through digitalizing of clinical workflows and optimizing treatment processes to build sustainable, high-performing organizations.
